Love, Bikes and World Championships

Last I posted here, I was focused on track cycling. Well, things have changed and in ways I couldn't have imagined possible.

Where to start?

First off, I fell in love again. I didn't know if it would be possible to find someone who got me. And boy did I get got! I upped and moved from Seattle to Colorado Springs about two years ago and absolutely love it here. Waking up to sunshine and next to my man does wonders for the soul.

I also decided to pursue piloting a tandem for the paracycling program. And in two short weeks I am headed to my first world championships. I am over the moon excited about it!  That whole world champ thing? It's quickly becoming reality. RAD!

Did I ever think I would be driving the front of a tandem with a visually impaired stoker on the back? No way! But I was open to the possibility. And because of that, well here I am.

I'm a living and breathing example that if you really want to do something, if you really dream big - you have to put it out there. The Universe responds! And though being a world champion didn't come in the format of track cycling (wait! That could still happen on the tandem!!!), it came in the way of pedaling bikes. And I couldn't be happier or more excited about that one.

More to come, I'm sure.

In the meantime - keep those dreams alive! They're yours for the taking.

Cementing things

After taking with a dear friend and old neighbor the other day, I realize I need to start putting things down on paper (or in my blog, for that matter). In a way, writing them down somewhat cements your commitment to them. And after seeing how it worked for her and reaching and realizing her goals, I know it can and will work for me.

Often the biggest risk is saying what's on your mind - especially if it's something you think the world will think you're crazy for stating. I want to get to the highest tier of cycling. I've dedicated my life toward that goal for the last several years and continue to. I've had distractions and have been able to turn each one down, thankfully. I feel like I've made sacrifices to get where I am and know I will be faced decisions and challenges in the future. My choose your own adventure path has brought me to this point - and I feel like I'm far from the ending of the book.

So here's to following your passion and pursuing them with gusto.

Obstacles

My, oh my it's been way too long! Let's focus on the positives, shall we?

Belief - I can do this.

Alignment - I'm prioritizing cycling in my life.

Goals - I'm reaching for them everyday in every way.

Daily - The hundreds of little decisions surmount to champions. Use each day as a gift in reaching them.

Joy - Find the beauty in what you are doing by pursuing your passion.

Faith - Know that hard work, dedication and continuing when things get tough will get you there.

Journey - We are the masters of our own destiny.

Battle - Through life's ups and downs and making the most of them.

Distractions - Recognize them and eliminate them, if possible.

You are an amazing, strong, confident, savvy and talented bike racer. You are doing what you enjoy and are focused on getting to the highest tiers of sport. You were born to do this and have a beginners mind. Be smart, patient, calculating and hone timing. All you have to do is play your cards right. You can do this!

I am a world champion.

Even champs have to do the dirty work sometimes. Power washing my back deck? Reeks of elbow grease to me. And a perfect opportunity to work on the mental power required to complete the duty.... glamorous, isn't it?

Hello!

Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about you. I just needed to take a little time, recharge the batteries. I'm back baby, more ready now then ever. And I'm focused. Each day is a chance to get that much closer. And I'm choosing the path that aligns with my lofty goals.

A champion is made a day at a time.

Rolling around on those boards that first day reaffirmed my belief. I belong here. I recognized the feeling of having arrived and am soaking it all in. I am that much closer to my goal and it feels amazing.

Savor this feeling, this moment. For it's definitely a peak. But who knows, it could quite possibly be a false summit. :) and there's a huge mountain range of life to continue savoring.

I await travel across the international time zone on my way to distant southern hemisphere lands. Where indoor velodromes, international competition and new experiences await. I am tickled and excited for the opportunity that is unfolding in front of me.
I am a world champion!
